The Idiot's Guide to RevHart.Net
This tutorial is designed to be both a full walkthrough and a quick reference guide on using RevHart.Net. This is accomplished through a list of links set up FAQ style. So you can either scroll through the whole thing or just click a link and zoom down to the part that you are interested in. If you have any further questions please post a comment on this entry.
- Logging In to Rev Hart
- Updating Your MT Profile
- Turning on Admin Links
- Posting an Entry
- Editing an Entry

- Alternate Posting Methods
- Site Goodies
- Logging Off of Rev Hart
For the purpose of this tutorial I would like you to first open up another page with revhart.net in it so that you can refer back to this tutorial easily as I walk you through posting your first entry. An easy way to do that is by clicking here.
Next, fill in the username and password I have supplied you with in the login form. Hit enter.
After logging in on the right hand side of the page towards the bottom there is a link to edit your MT profile called "Edit Your Profile". It looks like this. Right click it and choose to open the link in a new window.
The only fields you really have to worry about are marked here. This is simply to update your password to something you can remember.
Change your password, enter in something for password recovery and click Save.
Minimize the window, you will need it later.
You should now be back on the previous login page. Click the Front End Editing link to turn on Admin Links. Here is a screenshot of where exactly that is.
You should now be back on the main Rev Hart page. The login box should be replaced with a series of links:
Post an Entry - Pops up a window allowing you to post a new entry to Rev Hart.
The Idiot's Guide to RevHart.Net - A link to this tutorial for future reference.
Log Out - Logs you out of Rev Hart, removes the Admin Links, and brings back the login form.
Also, the end of each entry should now have an Edit Entry link and every comment should have both an Edit Comment and Delete Comment link after it.
To post an entry click the "Post an Entry" link on the right hand side of RevHart.Net under the Manage heading.
If you can not see the Manage heading perhaps you need to Turn on Admin Links or, perhaps, there is a problem with your cookies.
If you clicked the Post an Entry link a page will have popped up with a series of fields in it:
Select a Weblog for the Post - Choose Rev Hart Dot Net from the drop down menu.
Post Status - Leave it on Publish if you want the post to appear on the site once you are finished.
If you wish to save it as a Draft you may do so, but be warned, finding it again to edit it will be back-end work not the easy front-end stuff you have been working with. (ie - not for idiots) Find such information under how to Edit an Entry.
Title - The title of the entry that you are writing. Not optional.
Primary Category - The Primary Category you wish to assign to this entry. For more on categories and what their purpose is go here.
Entry Body - Where the text will go that you want to publish in your entry. The bar along the top can be used to add stylistic elements, for more on that go here. This field is not optional.
Extended Entry - Additional text that you wish to publish with your entry. If you entry is going to run very, very long, or perhaps contain the text of a forward, I suggest you put this additional text here. It would save everyone else having to scroll forever to get past your entry to get to the next one.
When you first login next time click on Entries instead of turning on the Admin Links the link can be found here. Click the title of the entry you had previously saved. Make any further changes you wish, just be sure you change the status back to Publish before you are finished and ready to post the entry.
After you are finished and have posted the entry to get back to the page that had the Front End Editing link on it click "Main Menu" found on the top of the page here.
